Slovakian tennis player Ivo Klec, 34, has been suspended and fined after being found guilty of offences under the 2015 Tennis Anti-Corruption Program (Program).
Mr Klec was found to have breached Section F.2.b of the Program, which requires all Covered Persons to co-operate with TIU investigations. Failure to co-operate is regarded as a sanctionable offence in its own right.
The player has been suspended for a period of two years, during which time he cannot participate in or attend any tournament or competition organised or sanctioned by the governing bodies of professional tennis. The suspension applies with immediate effect.
He was also fined USD $10,000.Independent Anti-Corruption Hearing Officer Richard H. McLaren considered the case, which was based on a Tennis Integrity Unit investigation, and imposed the sanctions.
Consistent with the confidentiality of the Anti-Corruption Hearing process, no further details will be made public.
The Tennis Integrity Unit is an initiative of the Grand Slam Board, theInternational Tennis Federation, the ATP World Tour and the WTA, who are jointly committed to a zero tolerance approach to corruption in tennis.
