The International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) has confirmed that Slovakian Tennis Player Barbora Palcatova has been banned from the sport for a period of three years (with 15 months suspended) after being found guilty of match fixing.
The case was heard by Anti-Corruption Hearing Officer Ian Mill QC, who ruled that Ms Palcatova, who has a current ITF singles ranking of 1685 and doubles ranking of 1046, should also pay a fine of $5,000, with $3,500 suspended. The charge related to a single incident of match fixing in 2017.
The sanction means she is prohibited from playing in or attending any tennis event authorised or sanctioned by the governing bodies of tennis for the period of her suspension. The breach of the Tennis Anti-Corruption Programme (TACP) that Ms Palcatova has been found guilty of is:
Section D.1.d of the 2017 TACP: “No Covered Person shall, directly or indirectly, contrive or attempt to contrive the outcome or any other aspect of any Event.”
The International Tennis Integrity Agency is an independent body established by the International Governing Bodies of Tennis to promote, encourage, enhance and safeguard the integrity of professional tennis worldwide.
