The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has dismissed an appeal from Sanjar Fayziev, a tennis player from Uzbekistan, against a Tennis Anti-Corruption Program (TACP) sanction imposed in October 2023.
An appeal hearing was held via video conference on 14 May 2024, from which the CAS tribunal upheld the three-and-a-half-year suspension (with six months suspended) issued by independent Anti-Corruption Hearing Officer (AHO) Janie Soublière in the first instance hearing.
Fayziev, who reached a career-high world singles ranking of 253 in 2017, was found by the CAS to have committed five breaches of the TACP relating to two matches in 2018.
Fayziev’s period of ineligibility remains unchanged, beginning on 25 July 2023 – the date of their provisional suspension - and will end at midnight on 24 July 2026, subject to no further breaches of the TACP.
During the period of ineligibility, Fayziev is prohibited from playing in, coaching at, or attending any tennis event authorised or sanctioned by the members of the ITIA (ATP, ITF, WTA, Tennis Australia, Fédération Française de Tennis, Wimbledon and USTA) or any national association.
The ITIA is an independent body established by its tennis members to promote, encourage, enhance, and safeguard the integrity of professional tennis events worldwide.
