The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has partially upheld an appeal from Guatemalan tennis player Christopher Díaz Figueroa against a Tennis Anti-Corruption Program (TACP) sanction imposed in October 2023.

The CAS ruling means that Díaz Figueroa’s period of ineligibility has been reduced from a lifetime ban to a six-year suspension, and the fine from $75,000 to $20,000, with nine breaches of the TACP found.

Díaz Figueroa, who elected not to participate in the first instance hearing, was found liable for 13 breaches of the TACP in 2023 by independent Anti-Corruption Hearing Officer Professor Richard McLaren. For full details, including the written decision, click here.

The player’s period of ineligibility runs from 30 September 2023 and will end on 29 September 2029.

During the period of ineligibility, Díaz Figueroa is prohibited from playing in, coaching at, or attending any tennis event authorised or sanctioned by the members of the ITIA (ATP, ITF, WTA, Tennis Australia, Fédération Française de Tennis, Wimbledon and USTA) or any national association.

The ITIA is an independent body established by its tennis members to promote, encourage, enhance, and safeguard the integrity of professional tennis events worldwide.
